Leo Fender created the Broadcaster model in his early days as a guitar builder around 1950. For the bridge pickup he based it on the models he used for his lapsteels. It was a powerful pickup, about 10 kO, with a thick and defined sound. The bridge pickup has alnico V flat magnets and 43 AWG plain enamel copper wire, as well as a steel plate on the underside. The neck pickup is encapsulated in a brass-free nickel silver cover. The magnets are alnico V magnets and the winding is made of 43 AWG plain enamel copper wire. Both pickups are wound in the modern style with RW/RP, so both are in phase and humbucking in the middle position. The finish is completed with lamp black wax plating, as Leo Fender did with his early pickups.
